It IS the head of a massive deep water channle created by the now diverted river. funnles and focues atlantic swells and now the river has been diverted (thanks Napolion) it holds fantasting churning shories :D

Head a little north and be greated be hundreds of individual breaks and banks that in their own right are fantastic.

Everywhere is capable of having swell in the summer. I did the SWest a few years ago, only to get texts that the East Coast was Head High and firing. That part of France does, however pick up any Atlantic swell going.

ya in france they pick up swell during the summer (thats when and where i learned!!!)
waves where getting to 6 feet out back. I tried going after 2 weeks and ended up getting:
1. tried to catch a wave, bad timming, missed then got pummeled by 3 waves.
2. Caught one, whent down on my stomach and then stood up for long!!
