Surfing Waves

is there anyway of reusing wax, like heating it up n adding glue or sumin like that, i much of spent a fortune of wax for my longboard.

and the time spent heating it up and adding glue (if that would work) for a really skanky wax job probably wouldnt be worth it

i got a free block of wax and a tidetable from a bloke promoting for secret spot surf shop yesterday. i think theres some competition going on coz i found a flyer for another surf shop under my windscreen wiper.

its £1.20 for a bar of wax down here but i supose its not that much, well i always try to blag free wax when i buy boardbags and fins so thatk have to do

Any time I've asked for a bar at the shop I frequent they give it to me for free.

Don't re-use wax; it's all dirty and nasty. (If it's not; then what the hell are you doing stripping it off your board in the first place...)

Surely it'd be easier just to buy a bar than wait until you get the freebie with the bag/fins??

I spent most of 2004 surfing, that's when I learned. Haven't had a stick since, spent a year and a bit travelling round spain.

Spent a fair few weekends last year in the water, but only on rentals. You'll forgive me for not being all that good, or knowing too much detail other than I love it, I devoted most of a year to it and I REALLY want to spend a LOT more time doing it.

We can't ALL work in the surf industry Northswell, although I imagine most of the people here would like to.

Fair enough man, just seemed a silly Q, if you surf you know how long a bar of wax will last you normally.

And you know what?

I don't know how long a tub of wax lasts. That's why I asked.

Sorry for the grumpyness. It's just the timing of all this crap with my ex, and my being too ill to go out last weekend - I had a nice little celebration planned, booked and paid for. I'm still too ill to do anything tonight, and next weekend isn't looking hopeful.

The worst thing is if I was watching someone else be as stroppy as me, I'd tell 'em to take it elsewhere.

Im a bit of an obsessive waxer (thats what this sign means isnt it? Always waxing a board?)

A block of wax will usually last me two weekends worth of surfing in winter, bit less in summer. Or a lot less in summer if I leave the boards in the hi-top and the wax melts repeatedly

I have a 'wax drawer' in the van - smells lovely!

Oh, thats when Ive got a few boards in the van. If I take just the one board then a bit longer.

Talking of wax, my lab ate my last bar of mrs palmers got well stuck to his teeth. Had to spend an hour picking it out

1-2 blocks on a clean/new board then a block every month or until i lose it or util its been left in the footwell of the car and either melted or turned into mud.
