doesnt it. How do you just disappear? Maybe he just got taken away with a current, but then why isnt he with his board?

Yeah, I heard about that on swaylocks. Apparently he was a really great shaper and surfer. He was out on a log that day, usually on a shortboard, but I doubt that had anything to do with it, considering he could shred on either.

I would guess that he either got knocked unconscious/dead on the reef and was carried out to sea with the current, or is still trapped/pinned in a crevasse/cave in the reef. Truly sad...

Definately easily done! If you check out the north shore reefs they are full of caves, holes, caverns...and it is all razor sharp!
More than likely he drowned whilst being held down by some of the reef..or he smacked his head on the reef.
His board washed up because if 12ft waves constantly crashed on a dead body...eventually something has got to give (hate to say it).
And maybe he wasn't surfing with a leash?

It always gets me when you read about people who were engaged... The whole things tragic. Just goes to show, never take the power of the sea for granted! I always remember a saying: 'It is the strong swimmer who often drowns.'
Hope he didn't suffer...
