Surfing Waves

what are the advantages to egg shape boards. saw some in a shop and it got me wondering. and what's the difference between single fin, tri fin, and quad fin set up on these boards. what conditions would you use this board in?

Egg shape: Loose feeling when surfing them, ideal for trimming down the line with retro style turns. Different tail, rocker and concave can determine what type of waves these boards can be ridden on e.g small and mushy or bigger and hollower.

Single Fin: One fin, so less resistance makes it faster, especially with a really flat rocker. Conditions: usualy smaller surf as there is less control than the thruster set up.

Tri-fin: Used for harder turns where more control is needed e.g cutbacks and surfing with just one rail in the wave. This is the classic most common set up. Used in all conditions.

Quad fin: Gives more control, especially on deep rail turns with less centre resistance as the centre fin is more or less split. Perfect for all conditions as well.

well i got myself an egg because im longboarder and i needed something for the messyer days or when i take the bus but you can use it in any condition realy

Iit's not really set for certain conditions, and characteristics on the board can determine what size waves its suitable for.
Mainly for smaller waves though.

yh i would say they are good on smaller waves, but if you get one with a good rocker you can take it out for the bigger days too.

Your able to take your surfboard on the bus! What type of bus to you ride to the beach since, theres only city buses where I live and I'm not sure if your able to take your surfboard along.

i got a 6' foot egg. i know it's on the small size for an egg but that's the range i was looking for. i took it out the other day and it was alot of fun, rides simularly to my friends fish but it's alot losser. it's a quad fin so thats a big change from my 6'2 retro single fin. thanks for your help, now i've got the board i was looking for on those small days or when i take my friends longboarding.
