Surfing the messy conditions keeps you in good shape for the better days...
It was tiny and messy the other day and all I did was paddle around for an hour for a little exercise.
...but then again I'm from South Africa where there's almost always surf, so the odd messy days aren't such a big deal

I'm sure it's not all bad, I bet you still enjoy catching a small messy wave.

don't worry... living down bournemouth way, you'll have to give up the wave snobbery and get into some mushy stuff soon

Oh yeh, and don't feel too bad about yourself, coz I still don't have the guts/ability/strength to surf anything bigger than 3-4ft sloppy beach breaks.
I wish I could even get out the back on my board in 5ft waves.

Theres been plenty of times i've driven the hour and three quaters up to the coast only to turn round and come back after failing to find any surf worth paddling into. Don't see the point of the hassle of paddling outback for a quick in and out. Saying that i might be tempted to now cos i aint surfed for three weeks.

it all adds to experience. Surfing in many conditions will make you an all round better surfer.
