This month things have gone to pot surfing wise. After some of the best sessions ever over the christmas period (when the swell permited) this january has been total crap for me. The last two days i feel like an invalid i cant seem to catch anything other than wipeout :? . Whats going on??????? someone said it might be biorythms or something. My only excuse is that the surf has been closing out pretty bad. Needles to say iam feeling very frustrated and pretty much bummed out

isaluteyou I noticed that when I'm tired (lack of sleep) I don't surf as well.... not saying it's the answer but it could be one reason

when i used to teach climbing i found that after a couple of weeks of climbing every day i'd hit a bad patch, and couldn't do routes i had easily done previously (and OMG did that piss me off! ). A couple of weeks' break (tho not a welcome idea when it's something you love! ) was exactly what i needed, and after taking said breaks i always climbed a lot harder than i had been before.

wherever you are on the learning curve for any sport (or anything else i guess) you will always hit a plateau....where you just can't seem to improve (or sometimes keep up original standards) no matter what you try. i think then you just have to accept that you might not be performing as well as you know you can, but things will change!

Chin up!

That is what happens to me too. I am a newbie surfer. I started in August and kept at it pretty hard till late November. I improved from August to about the 10th of November. Then from mid November till about the 25th I seemed to hit a wall and could not even stand up. I mean it was awful and very frustrating. I would paddle for a wave and catch it then go to my knees instead of popping up and would just curse myself under my breath. When I did stand I would either miss the wave or fall.

Well I took off a month and just got back in this past Sunday. The second wave I paddled for I was up and riding. I don't know if taking time off is the way to go but it seemed to work. I am going to try and get out the next day or two and I hope I will be up and going again.
