Surfing Waves

I am a bit confuslicated about what i should do with the board that I have left at Brent's house in new Zealand.

Whilst its not my first board it is the board i have ridden the most and the one that i first started popping up properly on. Its quite an odd shape, not quite a minimal, more of a funboard. It has alot of sentimental value for me.

My question is, should i ship it over here or let brent/someone else buy it off me and send me the money?

Bare in mind if i sell it the money i make wont even come close to buying me a new one in the UK...

Not entirely sure how much it will cost to ship but probs in the region of £80-150, had one quote but waiting for some more at the moment.

Brent doesnt reckon i should bother shipping it but i really do want it.

What do you guys reckon? Also has anyone (other than Mark) shipped boards, how much did it cost you and who did you use?

£80-150 is the effective money you'll save from not having it shipped plus whatever you get from he whom shall not be mentioned for selling it, lets for arguments sake say £150 it is afterall a very nice looking board you might get more than that.
So there's a possible £300 there, easily enough money to have a copy made of your board and im sure you know someone who'd be willing to do that for you!
Also no worries about it getting damaged in the post either.

SHIP IT BACK GIRL!!! I can't imagine being separated from my board - it's got sentimental value which you can't replace even if you make an exact replica. You'll regret it if you don't.

Okay, Pragmatic Boy opinion...

If the board really is special (either due to emotional attachment or surfing characteristics) then get it sent back.

Otherwise, forget it - boards are disposable, get another one, take the opportunity to get a custom board made for you with refinements to your 'old' board.

(But if money is the important issue - do whatevers cheapest)

Liek I said, it depends on the cost of shipping it back. If you can then do it. Its just a matter of how cheap different companies can do it for you.

I'd guess you would be looking to pay £80-£100 on average. It depends how much it means to you.
It does suck though. If only you knew someone who could bring it back.

I'm going to echo drowning here.. if it's sentimental and you want to keep it forever, ship it back.

If you think you'll be back down under at some point and can pick it up and fly back with it, or just end up moving back, then wait.

If it doesn't mean all that much, sell it.

It seems like a lot of money to pay out if it's just about how the board surfs.

Not all memories are good so if that board brings back bad memories forget about it. But if it realy has a lot of sentimental value then get it back.

I have to agree with Kitey. Especially if there is someone *cough, cough* who could build you a new one.
Besides, I love the excitement of NEW!

Leave it there, a board is just a tool for riding waves, like a spanner is for fixing cars, the board didntt pop you up you did that on your own!!! you could easily pick something up here for £150..

I'm going to sell it, to Brent or whoever else wants it. Its going to be alot of hassle shipping it over - plus think of the carbon emissions, my eclogical footprint is waaay to big as it is

Thanks for the advice Fishkid, Drowning, Kitey etc etc and to the (mostly) girls who wanted me to ship it - if i could do it quickly and easily i would but i think its going to take lots of time and lots of sorting out, and like Dondiemand said, i shouldnt be looking back.

Ooooh anyone got good websites for second hand boards?!

I'd say mine but i havn't got any in at the moment. Westcoastsurf have a decent selection and ship free i think.
