Surfing Waves

Bro-in-law gave me as a gift a 3/2 O'Neil Reactor wetsuit. It kept me fairly warm in water temp in low 60's but I still got pretty chilled after about 1 hour in the water (I'm nothing but skin and bones). It does have a very small tear under one of the armpits. Is this tear something that I can easily fix at home (sewing?). Also (just wondering) I didn't see "Reactor" in O'neils current wetsuit lineup. How old is this model of wetsuit? It was a gift and my 1st wetsuit, I was just curious how old this is and whether new wetsuit technologies are much warmer than this model or whether I'm just cold-blooded and need a 4/3. I'd like to have the option of surfing comfortably in waters down to 60 degrees. That should cover water temps. in the Mid-Atlantic for about 1/2 of the year (mid-May thru Oct/early Nov). Any input is appreciated.

you can get wetsuit repair glue...most surf shops should have it or just check online.

I need to fix my suit...the seam in the crotch is starting to bust.....so whenever I'm sitting on my board the boys a bit too cold!

Fix the tear in the wetsuit while it's small!

ha thats funny, I need to repair this small hole I have in my 3/2mm O'neill Epic 2 Summer suit.

I found Aquaseal worked best for me as a good wetsuit adhesive. I glued the tear shut, sewed it up, covered it again with the adhesive, done.
Aquaseal also works well to repair minor tears and wearing on climbing shoe soles.

buy some black witch and sqeeze half the tube on the rip

Thanks for the input. I'll check into getting one of those products to fix the tear. I think there is a surf shop about 45 minute drive from my home (I live 3.5 hrs from the beach surf shops)

Just ordered some Aquaseal online for about $5. I'm going to do the repair work tonight. Wish me luck.

With the temps in the low 60's and with the warm air temps we have had should be nice for a 3/2. I am wearing a 4/3 Body Glove and when the air temp is in the 70's and water temps in the low 60's I get quite hot. I do not know to much about the wetsuite your talking about but Oneil are good wetsuites.

bub, invest in a new wetsuit. The technology gets better every year. Wetsuits have changed pretty rapidly and if you check a new one out now as opposed to two years ago, there'll be a big difference. good luck.

Don't throw away an old wetsuit, never know when you might need a piece of neoprene to fill a small hole...

Don`t know about repairing a suit, but i have an old ripcurl classic 5`3 ( uk waters). Gives me nasty neck rash, so i cut the stiched on edging off. Now it`s just neoprene, so much better.
