adding fiberglass?

what i'm wondering is if i would be able to add fiberglass to a board. i was given a dhd board last year and i realy like the way it rides but it snaped twice already. the first time it broke about 3" from the nose. when i got that fixed the guy who fixed told me that the fiberglass was very thin and that he didn't sand the area where he fixed it so that it would be alittle stronger, extra layer extending about 6" from the nose. this proved to be true since when i broke it a second time it snaped it was where the extra layer ended. so is it possible to bring in and get one or two more layers of fiber glass added to the board? has anyone done this, if so how did it turn out, was the performance altered? i was told that it has so little fiberglass to make it lighter so that it would go faster, don't care to much if i loss some speed, at my level probubly won't notice.

If you've snapped it in half twice already, it might just make sense to buy a new or used board instead of spending money on repairs.

Sounds like to me you have three options.
1. Take the board to a shaper and get him to make you a copy. Or do it yourself.
2. Take the board to a glasser and ask him to remove the glass and re glass it with heavier glass or again do it yourself if you feel you could.
3. Attempt to add extra glass to it yourself.
Both 1 and 2 wil be costly with 1 giving you the best end result. A brand new board of the shape you like. Depending on the overall condition which bearing in mind the board has already snaped twice, 2 may not be that easy to do.
3 is a possibility but to get a descent end result is going to involve alot of work on your part.
So how good are you with fibre glass? What type of fins are on the board, removables or glass on's and if removable what type. If you are serious about attempting 3, then post up some good photos of the damage to the board, the whole of the bottom and deck and rails and then perhaps we can offer you some more specific advice. It's always good to see favourite boards rescued.
