AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH
just had to get that out first

.
A girl I know of has just started uni, met her through mutual friend and she was introduced as "this is XYZ my surfer friend" alls good thinks I, so said friend shows me her board (bright orange with yellow rails), its a magic carpet and is actually quite sweet. She told me the longboard fin thing on it is worth over £400

and that her 3/2 o'neill summer wettie cost her £400
So we went surfing. Ive never seen anyone less stoked in my life. "Im cold", "I'm Bored" blah blah. Said person never even made a half @rsed attempt to paddle for a wave. (I was informed on the journey to the break that she could do cutbacks on her first lesson)
So now "surfer chick" uses the "i go surfing with Jo" line to pull people

and its just pi$$ing me off. We only went once!!
ARGHHHH and now she wants to know when can we go surfing together again.... how about NEVER

That is the beautiful thing about surfing. If they suck you can still get your share of waves. Use them to block out so you can get a few more. It is all good when your in the water no matter how good you are or are not.

I cant stand people who try and act all "surfery" to make themselves look cool or to try and pull people. I see some idiots in Uni wearing boardies and flip flops in winter on the coldest of days.

she wants to go today (wednesday) and its fleshin' cold at the mo, she reckons she can handle it in a 3/2 wettie and no boots/gloves
I reckon as of tomorrow, Im gonna be surfing on my own

Take her, let her freeze, but be nice and call the coasties...
Then she'll never wanna surf with you again. Mission complete!
Reminds me of a guy I talked to a couple weeks back. I saw his car decked out in surfing stickers, you know, the whole chain board shops, the infamous OBX sticker , so I walk up to him and say "Do you surf?". I couldn't assume, because being landlocked allows people to pull this stuff off and not get caught. Anyways, so he says, "well...I..I have surfed...do you?"
I just say, "No, I just think the stickers on my car look pretty" and walk off. I think he could understand my sarcasm.

Tell her "That'd be great! Meet you at <break with heavy paddle out> at <time of your choosing>!".
Meet her there and go in. Paddle out immediately, do not wait for her because she is a good surfer
If and when she gets part of the way out catch a wave in and go to another break.
Keep doing this. Make sure buddies who can surf meet you in the lineup for a good laugh.

ug, i hate posers. Reminds me of when i use to bmx, at the skatepark their were usually these two kids with the same stock bikes with their bars too forward and i never saw em even roll over a ramp...
Reminds me of a friend who says he loves surfing but doesnt, he doesnt try to catch waves and i dont think he enjoys it much. Hes always the first one saying, lets go eat! unlike me and my other friend who sometimes skip lunch and wait for the busride back to eat.

I know someone who owns two boards and a oneil phyco 2 wettie (total prce of all that i estimate at just under $1000) Yet he cant surf nor never goes surfing despite living 100 yards from the beach. The worst part is he always brags about riding huge waves
mind you i knew someone who used to get dressed in a suit and walk his briefcase round the the block then go home
Takes all sorts

Great stories, Well if you meet me at the beach and want to surf with me. I will tell you first thing that I suck. I do not surf in crowds but I do like to have one or two people around me when going out for a session. I may suck at surfing but if you get in trouble I will at least be in the water to help.

I agree. Go with her again and see if she still complains about everything. I don't understand why she'd want to go if she didn't enjoy it. Strange

. Let us all know what happens! good luck!!!

Yeah fully, she might get really stoked on surfing, but if she's just in it to look cool she'll soon be making excuses not to come with you. I'd try not to let it bother you, after all she won't be the last...or worst kook you'll be meeting
