Old news, that article is from december of last year. Other companies have started to pick up the slack left by the closure of Clark. There have been many differnt stories of why he closed, some more interesting than others. Being in the somewhat local area, there is very little truth to the rumor that he was facing any sort of jail time.

That happened a while back. I believe they have set up again with a different name and are completely legal. We hope it will bring board prices down

They've set up as U.S. Blanks. Everybody from clark except clark himself.
The most legit story I've heard, is that the state of California had been riding his case for years, because they were interested in getting his property, plus putting outrageous taxes on him. For those of ya'll who don't know, Clark's a pretty old dude, and he was just sick of it, and shut down shop.
I've heard that from a number of reliable sources.
Rhyno has been filling the blank (ha, I'm so punny) along with Walker for the most part (in the US atleast)
I have heard some reports on U.S. Blanks' blanks. Apparently, they aren't as great as Clarks, even though they have the same recipie. Close though. Also, since Clark shut down, lots of people have grown accustomed to the Rhyno's, and now like them a bit better, since they have a flat deck, and have consistent density throughout the blank so you don't have to worry about overshaping.

Thank god.
Can you imagine the chaos if there was a shortage of surfboards.

There was for a year. And that why we now pay $400-$600 for a board instead of $300
