No doubt they will be priced at £300 +. Nice idea though.

..at the same time as being super impressed and acknowledging the obvious advantages for cold climate surfers .... theres just something not right about bringing technology into surfing man .. i will never wear a suit that needs plugging in ' to go into the liquid it just doesnt seem soulfully right ! . Part of the fun '/ attraction of surfing to me is the fact that you are right in there with the elements of nature ... i want to feel the cold .. i want to feel the heat .. i want to get beaten up by mother nature and equally occasionally flip a loving middle finger at her as i safely make it back to shore :D

For cold climate surfers .. great .. for wusses that want their surfing to be governed by a " battery charged notification " on their suit then ... ok , whatever ... just expect a mahoosive amount of p***taking from me while your stood next to your car waiting to get charged up !!

Go go Power Rangers  :D

lmao.. ive got an image of a guy stood near his car with a set of 'jump-leads' running from his suit to the battery for when the contacts get a bit older and the charge doesnt hold ... " c'mon ted , turn it over again ... squirt some WD40 on the points ..that'll get it going ... " Hey guys , guys .. yeh .. could you um .. bump start me down this hill

there will be a huge market for these tho, ive seen a few guys in the last couple of weeks wearing hoods in the surf already - even tho its still >14degrees

imagine you buy one these, and start using it now - you get usewd to having that warm heated wetsuit. What happens in january when your out and it stops working or batteries run out? - you will be absoulutely freezing cos your not acclimatised to the cold.

Saying that, bikers have had heated jackets and gloves for years so it was only a matter of time before someone put on in a wettie.

How much better will these be instead of a decent 5/4/3 wettie, hood and gloves? which are bound to be cheaper for the forseeable future.

I suppose it may be an advantage that you could use the same suit all year round and just plug it in for the winter.

is it just me or isn't it pretty well known that Electricity and Water don't mix well.

It all sounds great, but remember 3 people a year die from testing a 9V battery with their tongue.

People are stupid and shouldn't be trusted with such things!

Yeah, I saw one dude out yesterday with a hood and the water is 60°F (or about 16°C). Later on I saw he pulled it off; it was just flapping around on is back.

There's talk of a new wetsuit fabric coming out that will pretty much eliminate neoprene. Lighter, more flexible, with the same warmth. I'd much rather go that route than plug in to the heater.

Besides, we all know how to warm up a wetsuit.....

tbh I agree with cheeze. Plus its only guna make the water more crowded in the winter. I still think its pretty cool that the new heated suit allows you to go out in the middle of the freezing winter wearing just a 3 mil suit.
