Have any of you surfed with a cold? I have a cold and have kinda blocked ears to add to the usual symtoms. Do you think i'd risk getting an ear infection and gettin sick all over again for the whole week i'm there or might it cure me altogether?
I'm leavin tomorrow so anyone who has surfed with a cold please tell me your experiences!!

Go surfing, there's always the possibility that it'll go flat for a few days.

Surfed while sick. Cold-type symptoms. Had fun, no problems with ears, etc, but I wore myself out fast. Had no strength or endurance. thought I was fine before i went out, found out real fast I wasn't. Felt sluggish and like crap for the whole next day too. That was the worst part. I blew 2-3 days of a holiday because I couldn't wait 1 day to totally recuperate.

Surfing in cold water and exercising hard definitely wont help you get rid of a cold :?

Worst case scenario - makes it worse, turns into a chest infection, you get pneumonia, you die a painful excruciating death coughing your lungs up in chunks.

But more likely scenario - as jethrodog said.

Ive surfed with a minor cold before, and then felt it turn into a proper gobby snotty croaky monster

If you do go in (and lets face it, you know you're going to) make sure you stay warm in the water - winter suit, short sessions, get out if even begin to feel chilly.

Yeah i've had it for like a week now and i'm feelin better but i'm getting better really realy slowly. I don't think I'll be able to resist if the waves are good though.
It probably wouldnt be good for me though. :(

depending on how blocked your ears feel, your balance might suffer... I'd take it pretty easy and see how you go in the water.

I went out after fighting a cold all week (not going to die in MY Time) and it fuc*ed me after about 20 mins, zero energy. If you do go out, don't go out too far that you can't get back in!

My doctor recommended I go surfing more often when I had bad allergies or even a slight sinus infection because the salt water clears the sinuses out pretty well.

But with a standard cold or flu, I'd say it's 50-50.

washing machines really clear the sinuses, and your mouth at the same time.
