 Hello I am new to this industry I am not a surfer myself but i do represent a surfer. I am currently trying to negotiate a sponcership deal for for my rider and would like some input into what is considerd the norm in the industry for such a deal. My rider is female under the age of 18 and she hopes to get into the WQS next year. Any input or any advise would be greatly apreciated.

well if shes 18 and wants to get on the wqs i would expect her to already have some sponsorship? the standard is very high and travelling to compete can be very expensive. Theres a few girls local here who are under 16 and already have loads of sponsorship and good results in national competition.
At minimum she would need a board sponsor, but even that doesnt mean a free ride, shapers might just offer a reduced price on boards, and they would expect to see the rider getting coverage in mags and solid competiton results- i assume your rider already has this?

Yes she has a shapper and boards and a very good amount of coverage, and she does have some "hand shake " sponcerships already. She has also resently won some titles, but as you said all of this stuff costs money and for some one who hasent been in the wqs yet, she still needs to prove herself. What I want to know is, what is a standard for some one who has podium finishes in almost 70 to 80% of her competitions? I want to be realistice with a counter offer.
The offer I have already recieved from the sponcer is between 10000 to 15000 $U.S. this includs boards, suits, airfare and entry fees for competitions plus more. Also much of the cash is dependent on Podium finishes and where she finishes in competitions i.e. top finish more money -lower finish less money.
any input would be great

Thank you very much for your responce.
