I watched a program a while back. Apparently it was all started by that Malik Joyeaux before he died.

Souns like reasonable fun.

Well..In this program I watched when they wipeouted the kite would pretty much just pull them out without hardly getting wet.

Looked like great fun.

Also..what happens when you get a barrel...this ropes would get hit by the lip?!

Depends how thick the lip is! So in this case you're screwed in other cases the lines can cut through tjust the top of the wave. Also depending on the wind direction if it's cross off down the line you can get the kite in a better postion so the lines don't get hit by the lip.
But it won't be easy!
In those kinds of waves you can't afford to wipeout with a kite, i doubt even a kite would pull you through the lip of big teahupoo.

Damn that looks like fun, but very scary if ya wipeout !!

i always assumed there wasnt much wind there judging from how glassy it always looks in the videos, or do they have some sort of windy season?
