Right people i'm having a little difficulty with getting back down the face of a wave-
My bottom turn works ok(ish) and ive nailed trimming but i cant seem to get into a position to fly back down the face thus generating more speed.

The only times ive managed to hammer along the face is when i popped up early and trimmed along nearly at the top of the wave.

Also when doing a bottom turn, my knees are obviously bent but when i reach the bottm of the wave will i generate more power if i was to 'spring up' by straighting my legs real quick????????????????????????

Cheers for your time

yup crouch down low and as you make the bottom turn dig the rails in and push up with your legs this will gennarate much more power can pump down the line like that as well

for the top turn try puting more weight over your back foot as you hit the top of the wave then bring the front of the board round

how small/big are the waves around where u surf? have u tried to angle ur board during take off? u will surf the face of the wave and will generate more speed, also try to put ur weight on ur front leg, and always keep those knees bent, if u lose speed, pump ur board with ur weight still on ur front leg

you need to unweight as you come up the face (make yourself light, like a little jump without your feet leaving the board), the top turn then flows more naturally as you weight the board again as you come back down. If you mean doing re-entries or snaps then theyre are a little different and you need to use more back foot pressure to snap the board round.
All these manouvers depend more on the bottom turn you make into them rather than the actual turn at the top itself.

exactly, re-entries are a whole different story..it's more of back foot pressure, front foot straight, but dont lock the knee or u'll get injured, then start pumping again to gain speed..this is a little bit harder coz u have to find the section of the wave that is yet to break..i usually do re-entries by accident so i cant say much about it..my advise is, practice practice practice!! goodluck :)
