Would that not increase flex in the center of the board?
Anybody got any idea of pro's/cons or is it just somebody trying something different for the sake of it?

but i cant see the benifits on having that much flex and no strengh in the center of the board say you pull of a nice big floater landing on the center of the board with no stringer is gonna dmg the board easyer?

I don't know....the gang at swaylocks seem to think its a good thing, but what do they know. Their all just probably trying something different for the sake of it. Kinda reminds me of those fools that thought they wood replace a carburetor with fuel injection.

Or even better.....I remember reading about a bunch of idiots that cut their longboards down to make shorter boards, thinking they might surf different.

Flex is one of the key components of the new style boards Taj, Andy and others are starting to ride.

Stronger and more durable than traditional boards, too.

Looks sweet but im kinda wondering what would happen if you dropped the board heavily enough to seriously damage one of the rails... would it be harder to fix having the stringer and rail so close together (say you snapped the nose...)?

These boards are *really* hard to ding or break.

Patch it with a sticker or tape and do a pretty much standard epoxy repair.

Snaps are harder - re-skin it basically.

All the standard stuff that goes with a "compsote board" ("epoxy board" in Oz).
