Monumental wipeout i just survived

Postby isaluteyou » Wed Aug 30, 2006 12:50 am

Im amazed i just came out unscaved. I was paddling for a good sized wave and as i went to pop-up my hands slipped and over the falls i went i landed slap on my board and the wave hit me in the impact zone i felt the board rolling and bashing me in the washer machine. I imerged to have another surfer riding directly for me  i didnt even know where my board was and i just ducked under i felt him and his board land on top of me and we got pumeled in the whitewater.

I swallowed about a gollon of water and crawled out of the water to find my board washed up on the beach somehow the strap came undone.

Thats it extra wax lots of extra wax going on tomorrow. Im amazed both me and my board received zero damage. PHEW.

Thats the first real harsh wipeout ive had on a surfboard.

Welcome to the club lol. Its happened to me a few times. Its so very annoying because not only do you miss an epic wave but you get a huge wipeout and hurt your shoulders when you slip.

My arms have slipped a few times popping up because the wax has been on too long... Also its happened before when doing a roundhouse cutback. My foot slipped clean off and I came down heavy on my board. Really ruins your ride.
I try making sure I have plenty of wax on from now on, but I still manage to slip every now and then.

lucky your board didnt get damaged. Perhaps it saw the other guy coming and legged it.
Hope you gave the other guy a good mouthful of abuse.

I hate going over the falls, especially when you pull out of the wave before dropping in and the wave still manages to pull you down with it :x .

too true i have really nasty bruise on my hip and i have a red mark that looks a lot like a leash on my hand (leash burn  ) board has no damage other than a slight pressure bump on the bottom.

Hope you gave the other guy a good mouthful of abuse
Didnt get a chance to do anything after the inicedent he immedietly left just wondering if his board or him didnt get hurt or something because that was a quick exit.

Im also considering replacing my leash it seems to have lost some tackyness and is not sticking so good. I am making sure i check the board for stickyness every session now.
