Hey so today my friend left a pretty nice hole in his board and a small ding on mine. Anyway were paddling out and im of his right side, and a bit behind him. My friend is pretty inexperienced, but i knew he surfed last summer so i didnt think about what consequeces would come from being to near him. Anyway were paddling out and a big sea of white wash comes towards us, im about to duck dive but i see him just LET GO of his board and dive under the waves, im like ohhh shiit, and the board comes flying at me like a rocket. I try to dive away, and hear a thump, so im guessing it hit my board. i check the damage and their "seems" to be nonthing wrong, so we surf for about an hour. We go back in, and as it turns out the nose of my board had sliced through his body. My board, thankfully, only has a small ding in which the foam is exposed at the top of the nose. Im pretty sure some solar resin can fix that right up though? so i didnt really worry about it. But his board has a half inch wide, 1 inch long, and 1 inch deep hole in it. So, i was wonderin, can i just clear the hole of any debri, and then just fill it up with solar resin and let it dry? would that work? if not can someone please help me find a way to fix his board. Sorry for the long story and THANKS for any help! :D

my jaw dropped when i read your part of the story that said "my board sliced through his body". yeah *phew* until i realize seconds later you are meaning the body of his board.

good thing no 1 got hurt. As far as repairing the boards if the foam is exposed i would leave the boards to dry especially your mates board if you fill the holse up now that water that got in will leave a nasty cancer stain :( is solar resin that suncure stuff? if it is id probably suggest getting a higher quality resin to fix such a deep gash, but if its that bad im not sure a resin fill is sufficent. Im sure someone on here will know better

i also got confused by the bit that said 'nothing seemed to be wrong so we surfed for another hour....then we realised that the board had sliced through his body'!! he didn't notice?!!

It made me laugh, anyway, (after i realised that it wasn't your friend that had been mutiliated, of course!)

Ok - for your ding, use the solarez stuff (you are riding a glass board, not epoxy, right?)

If it's epoxy - ignore everything and go to a shop and ask for an epoxy kit.

For your friend's board - let it dry out in the sun. Then clean out the gash, and get a repair kit with fiberglass and real resin. Follow instructions in the kit.

It will involve sanding, cutting the fiberglass to size, and mixing the resin with the catalyst.
