surf in tahiti?

Postby nz girl » Thu Jun 03, 2004 7:35 am

hi guys
i was thinking bout taking up a post as an english teacher in tahiti at the end of next year. i was wondering if anyone knew anything bout the surf there. i've heard of teahupoo and all, but i'm talking much smaller breaks, preferably ones that i won't need a boat to get to. obviously its reef territory, but are there any 'safer' breaks? anything you know would be appreciated and i'll take it into consideration - i'm not moving to a country/island where i can't surf!

cheers surf patrol, i checked it out, it was pretty useful. also found a site called www.globalsurfers.com which lists every surfable break on the island as well as giving a detailed description of the kind of waves they get, how crowded they all are and if they're suitable for begginners. definatly worth checking out.
