So, if you take a wingnut cut-out for example - the base is cut away, increasing your side to side manuverability. But it also has a big knob on the tip, which helps it hold onto the wave (your noseriding ability).
A big base that tapers away into a longer, thinner tip may not hold as well as a traditional fat boy, but it also should give more thrust/speed.

Posted: Mon Aug 21, 2006 8:20 pmNose riding fins have wide cords at the base so that when your on the nose and more the tail is out of the water the fin still gives alot of lift as it still has a good amount of lift producing area in the water. Whereas a taper performance fin will be slipping out more.
