Ok surfers out there in internet land, I have a tough one for you...
I have a fish that fits in the passenger seat of my MX-5 (just), but my dilema is sometimes when travelling to breaks away from my home I'd like to carry the girlfriend as well rather than leave her at home (ok I'm being diplomatic and feel the need to include her in my activities)..
So, do any of you use soft racks on the soft top of these cars ? any pearls of wisdom? Any specific recommendations, no she won't fit in the boot.
Your help will be appeciated?

Not sure you can fit a soft rack to your motor, but at the weekend i did see an mx5 with one of those luggage racks on the boot with a couple of (shortish) boards on there. Seemed to work ok...
Or, swap it for a landy - can get six boards on top (easily), tents, kit, beer, food, kites, mountain boards, bikes and other assorted junk in the back, along with a three people up front without even trying, and it's only a short wheel base!
Maybe some kind of troop truck would be the ultimate surf vehicle. Or a grummond goose.... or a nice 60' ketch to just anchor out back... Or an Mi-27 chopper.... ok, i'm getting silly now
Landies...

My Dad had one of those, a 1952 Series one, had a brass plate on the dashboard & all with year & chassis no etc, 88 inch wheelbase, even had the original "cotton-reel" accelerator pedal that rolls under your foot when you push down on it. Sold the beast several years ago for junk..I's gutted & so was he, the family "bush pig" he'd owned since he was in his 20's (he's now 74 )finally died.
Ironically Dad says the same thing...he jokingly calls my car the " japanese gay hairdressers car"
But nope, a surfboard tied across a rear boot of an MX-5 on one of those accessory luggage racks would just be too gay for words. Like aerobic & sycnronised swimming...some things a man should never do.
She'll be staying at home for awhile yet.
