It's only rubbish for forcasting the surf if you don't know how to read the data supplied. Read the tutorials on the site then you will be able to combine the information provided with a bit of common sense and reap the rewards of a great forcasting site. Remember that the swell height is for offshore buoys not on the beach, you also need to note the swell direction.

Bingo Lardyarse!

Blue - You really do have to put a little effort in and use you noggin to get somthign in return. Ben has put in so much work into MSW's Interpretaion modle. up to 3 days its usually spot on. As with anything after that its only a general idea anyway.

You tell me the last time any forcast was spot on from 4-8days previously....

Works fine for me in Portugal... as always a bit of an interpretation need to be spot specific. I get a fair idea now using data that I have previously recorded (eye and MSW) and cross referancing it with current data from MSW; Ben's site helps a lot. As for the photos Bluey, No...

The new nearshore WAM model is the bomb, you should check it out. Its still in teathing stages and doesn't account for wind degredation but its great for seeing the swell shadows.
