Theres a few secret spots round aberystwyth which i know of, tho generally dont work that well all that often. When I'm there and shall we say 'un-local' people turn up, nobody really gets bothered.

Im off to perranporth in august so have been on the hunt for some quiet spots round there, whats the chances im gonna get localism? Might just turn up and hope I dont get a bashing  can cope with the cold shoulder but not with a bruising hehehehe

secret spots are a no go in summer unless you live there or know some one that surfs there and they take you, plus you need to be a really good surfer or locals will just get pissed off with you messing up there waves

there are plenty of nice long beaches in cornwall to avoid the croweds without heading to secret/semi secret spots, think how you would feel if you had a nice quite break to avoid the masses on foamys and everyone started showing up and surfing there

so i say respect the locals and stick to the main breaks

OK here's a list of secret spots and how to get to them:

1. The Shovels - Turn left at the farmer's house, tip your hat to the waitress on the corner of Grant and Ann Avenues while waiting for the train crossing to stop crossing, then hang a sharp right and then U Turn and there you are

2. Garmpa's Ole Boots (this one is in Scotland) - Drive up the hill, past the cuckoo clock, pass through the time portal and head for the three mushrooms which are guarded by bees. They will tell you the rest of the way

3. Crazy Crane's Surf Paradise - Doesn't actually exist. I've heard some really stupid directions to there, but I've never actually got there myself. I think it's justan Urband Myth. So when someone says they've surfed 25 foot Crazy Crane's, you can tell them to shut up you fool! I ain't gettin on no plane fool!

i agree with phil stick with the main spots

iv everyone new the seceret spots it wouldnt be seceret and locals would have to resort to violence to keep it to a non crowded breack, and locals that use violence i dont blame em to many spots have been ruind by to many random people.

i think its probably best to stick to the main spots as well...i have only ever surfed one and it was a sort of present/kind gesture from my ex boyfriend...it took him weeks to convince the guys who surfed there to let me come for only a day!! Even then my ex still had to do the whole blind fold thing so i didnt know where it was....

I won some brownie points by cooking for them that evening to say thanks but as i expected they politely asked me not to come back unless invited or at least until i got a lot better!

your not likely to get directions to any secret spots unless you know a local and they show you, and even then most of the good remote spots are pretty sketchy unless you know what your doing,.. The best spots are ones which only break rarely and for that you need local knowledge to know when theyre gonna be on. But if the main beaches are crowded then go search for some waves, theres nothing better than finding a nice break with next to no-one out when you know its rammed just down the road.

Go up the ligger point end of perren if you can't be botherd to hunt about. Onlt ever a few people out there, good boulder and sand banks. Solid peaks all states of tide.
