I start medschool in Aug so its back to the US of A's. It going to really suck going from surfing everyday to surfing only on vacations. But, after medschool, I plan on relocating to Hawaii. Just got to keep my mind on the prize.

How do other people handle being away from the waves?

I wouldn't be able to do it. I find one week bad enough and have to start making surfboards.

I am afraid I am gonna freak out. Over the last year I have been in the water pretty much every single day. Small days, big days, I just enjoy being out there. Now I am gonna be stuck in a disgusting city far from the ocean.

Hey FormosanSurfer

Well done in getting into medschool...its an aspiration of mine to study medicine...its 5 years to get qualified in the UK, but I always just think that afterwards you can work almost anywhere...perhaps next to your favourite break  and it gives you so many options...you just have to think about it in the long term

Yes its going to suck but the reward at the end will be all the sweeter for it! :D

Hey, there are med schools close to the ocean, just about all the med schools in Southern Cali are within an hour or two of decent waves. Of c ourse, who knows if you'll even have any time to head to the beach, or any energy to surf, with all the time med schools seem to take from you.
Good luck!!

Unfortunately its not so easy to get into a medical school and damned near impossible to get into a CA school. I applied to 19, only got into 2.
