hold onto your board!

Man, the beaches were so packed for the 4th of July weekend here. There were so many people surfing, many of them who didn't know what they're doing (I haven't been out for even 4 weeks yet, but I felt like a pro compared to many of them).

Anyway...I was paddling out next to another guy, slightly behind him and a set picks up. He completely lets go of his board and it comes crashing into my hip. It hurt so baaad, and the guy didn't even say anything until I told him to be more careful and hold onto his board. Now my hip is cut up and purplish/black.

I also heard another surfer complaining of the same type of thing happening this weekend but the guy's board hit his board not his body, making him have to get his board repaired.

Anyone else ever feel the wrath of a newbie who can't control their board and want to share?

Last week some guy was surfing a longboard without a leash. When he came off it the board came towards the shore as I was coming out...thats bout it. Never had a board hit me other than my own lol

But I have had a lot of newbees from teenagers to adults cutting me up

people bailing their boards is one of my pet hates and I make sure anyone who does it near me gets told not to do it again in no uncertain terms
