Surfing Waves

hi guys

a couple of months ago i had this killer deal on a tufflite JC sd3 6.0 , because it was such a good deal (the board was "never used" and i got to buy it for around 500Euro's ) i was maybe a bit blinded by the price ,

i'm 1.82 m and i weigh around 67 kg , the size of the board is 6.0 x 18.15"x2.15"

i'm didn't had the chance to check out the board yet because there's no water around where i stay at at the moment but in a few days i'm leaving to morocco and i want to try out the board there

ussualy i surf a 6.2 or a 6.3 custom board, but as i was reading on the tufflite construction a 6.0 would have kind of the same float as a 6.2 or 6.3 even. thats why i took the risk to buy the 6.0 tufflite

but now i would like to hear what you guys think of it, do you think the 6.0 SD3 is indeed too small for me or do you guys think that i don't have annything to worry about being that it is a tufflite construction . is there anny one who owns a 6.0 sd3 around here what are the opinions on the board?

I hadn't heard that tuflite boards give more float than a custom one but then again i know nothing of tuflite boards. Float is directly linked to the volume the board didsplaces it's archimedes principle and it's weight. So i guess if a tuflite board is lighter than a simillar sized(volume) custom board then it will have more float, if this is the case.
A board with more float is likely to plane earlier, ie when the waves is less steep. A shorter board will paddle slower so it's a bit of a trade off.
Unfortunately i can't be of more help, pat42 knows abit about shortboards i think maybe he can assist!

I know lots about tufflite boards..... like you can break them when you surf your other board into them

Yup, they do give marginally more float than a normal custom. They're a fair degree lighter than a custom so kitesurfer's spot on with the archimedes
But the difference is quite small - the weight of the surfer is the bigger factor so dont go knocking off too much length/volume and expect it to float like a bigger board.

But chopping 2" off should be okay as long as the volumes are similar.
