Surfing Waves

hmm really want to try out my new board so im going surfing later but looked on the web cam and noticed that the waves are alot bigger on some parts of the beach than others, so im guessing its rock breaks.

is anyone else goign to surf down langland/caswel today?

i cant get to llangenith, or can i i live in west cross, got a feeling a gower bus goes up through mayals

grrr when will langland ghet some decent waves

there is a map on the webcams site of the various breaks at langland (although theyve censored one of the names).
Basically youve got langland in front of the slipway whick breaks over rock, thats where most people surf and lefts which is in front of rotherslade at low tide. Crab island is the reef in front of the cliffs to the east of the bay at low tide, but stay away from there unless youre really sure you know what youre doing - the take off is right in front of dry rocks and its a long way from shore. on the right of the bay you got the shitpipe and further out is the point, but theyre more longboarders waves, and right out the back is the sandbar.
You also get smaller waves breaking in the bay in front of the beach huts, this is where i would suggest you go if you go there, langland is crowded and aggro (and has nasty rips) and all the other breaks have dangers.
In short, unless your very competent, stick to the bay if you have to go there, but really its not a beach for leaners/intermediate. A better option still would be to walk round the corner to caswell, gets good from mid to high tide, and has more of a "safe beach break" feel.

Caswell is the safer beach and can be loads of fun when its 3ft+. The paddle out is a lot easier and theres no reefs to fall on. I am thinking of going to Caswell now to see what its like, if its no good then will have to go to Gennith.
