First up for the year is Tropical Storm Alberto :D

Its been lashing down with rain on Cuba and will hopefully soon be heading into the north atlantic :D

(although its predicted path and strength are a bit hit and miss at the moment)

A nice early start to the season - although not as early as last year (and lets hope the season is good for surfing, but not as catastrophic for the people in its path)

Fingers crossed for a few classic summer sessions.... :D 8) :D

I like your optismistic view of the situation. I'm also very happy about the fact that the forecast for monday is 8.5ft with 12 sec and i'm gonna be in croyde!

:D :D :D

Yeah KS, I've been watching that system develop. Its stayed nice and tight, shame its tracking a but further north but there is always a chance it might swing down a bit and we'll get better winds :)

I think thats a bit far ahead even for me!

Towards the end of next week will be the first real chance to give a forecast for the weekend of the meet. I'll definitely put up a forecast as soon Im beginning to be confident of whats gonna happen.

Then you can all laugh at me and take the pi$$ when I get it hopelessly wrong

Good post dbbb. Im hoping this will produce a classic summer of waves. The swell for this week is going to die down after today and pick up again on monday by the looks of it. I hope it does So I can get out next week because ive missed the last few days of this swell.

Yup, I dont think monday's swell is going to be huge. Surfable, but not epic

Sadly, I think Im gonna be at work on monday... just like I missed the short pulse just gone. I reckon thats what we're gonna get for the next few weeks - short flat spells in between short pulses of small to medium sized surf. Lets hope the SW meet weekend is during a pulse! :D

Ye magicSeaWeed is more than unreliable but it can usually tell when something surfable is coming in. I dont care how big mondays is as long as its surfable. Aint been out in 2 weeks now....starting to feel really down :(

just rode alberto yesterday. there was a window for like an hour where there was consistent thigh highs and the occasional waist. poop. back to flat, pray for hurricanes (that just sit and chill off the coast and never come on land for weeks)

Alberto, hitting tommorow, me surfing.....Friday :D :D :D

if my overpowering mom doesn't step in.....

And MSW is giving a crap report....I think I'm just going to rely completely on wetsand and NOAA from now on

You do remeber that the sizes forecast are open sea swells right.... Thus you need to add your own knowledge of the various breaks in the area to it and how the will show the swell at each individual one.
I've never had a problem with the MSW prog interpretations of the NOAA swelol models on the 1-3 day period. Anything more and its only a general idea of what could come.
Combine the forecast models with the pressure animations. with time you'll be getting spot on sessions every time.
