Friday was the last day of my life
Posted: Sun Jun 04, 2006 7:12 pmWe've finally done it me and my girlfriend- packed in the work. No more endless hours trapped in a white walled cell the unblinking dead eye on my desk sucking the life from me. Stress piled on boredom, my body growing weak and pale and my mind bending at the total pointlessness of it.
Tomorrow I head south and west, from Devon to Morrocco, surfing whenever there's a swell, moving on when we feel like it, keeping our own time and moving at our own pace.
I doubt I would've had the balls to do it without the call of the surf, nor would our friends and colleagues have been so understanding. People seem to get going sufing as a justifiable reason for life changing decisions, maybe I just hang about with like minded people who wished they had an excuse to do similar. My company have even offered to give me a job if I want it in the future - we'll see.
Anyway, the hangovers from Friday's party have (finally) gone, the leaving gifts counted (camping gear, camcorder, whiskey - cheers kids) the van is packed and we are ready to roll.
See you in the wet.
