Rip Curl - Rubbish suit, great service

Postby drowningbitbybit » Tue May 30, 2006 12:34 pm

A week ago, last session of the year in a winter suit (it was cold wet windy and raining, otherwise I'd already have been in a summer suit) and suddenly it got very very chilly. The shoulder on My 5mm RipCurl suit had popped open, letting the atlantic pour in

I took it back to the shop yesterday (having finally found the receipt) and RipCurl just got back to me - they'll not only replace the suit, but upgrade it to their new 'Ebomb' winter suit :D

This is particularly good news for me, as two weeks ago I put a hole in the old one

So the seam may have been pants on this suit, but at least they're being good about replacing it. Well done chaps :D

Yes, the ongoing ripcurl debate...

Now is it worth having continual problems with a suit, but getting it replaced/repaired/upgraded...

or

geting a solid, well made suit tyhat never fails....

For me, i'm never getting another ripcurl suit, its just endless faff with leaks, ripping seams and back stiching. I only got mine cause i got 120 off it in the first place. It'll be another custome for me hands down.

I'll let you know how I get on with the new one (although not til winter rolls around again), see if they've solved the seam problem yet :?

According to the rep, they are blaming the bad quality on the location of production. Cause its so humid over there in thoese sweat shops of the east the glue doesn't set propperly thus instantly creates a weekness and leaky seams. Its onyl a matter of time untill the poor stiching gives way.

It is a shame cause they could be really good suits if they made them propperly.

I think the suit that Brents been having problems with is a Ripcurl too. Same thing, crap wettie but great service, he's had it repaired twice now so we'll see how it goes....
