cracks

I seem to always develope cracks next to the stringer of my board on the side where my front foot pops up. I have a sneaking suspicion it is because I am quite a heavy footed surfer...does anyone have any tips on how to repair these cracks? Or maybe tricks in which could help me to avoid this happening in the future? This has happened to two of my boards now..and it pisses me off!!! My next board will definately be a custom board, with heavy glassing :?

if their only little cracks dont worry about them, most/ all boards will get them for heavy use and unless they get bigger and bigger theirs no need to fix them.

Take it to a ding repair and get it re-glassed.

they run down to the foam, hence making the board not watertight. I had cracks before, and I left them..they just became bigger and bigger.

I really don't think this happens to all boards, as I have only had my board for about two months. My old boards, which ive had for a couple years now, are crack free...I emailed D'arcy (shaper) and he said it was quite an uncommon ding, and most probably due to a glassing mishap, and that if he glassed the board (which he didnt, glassing was outsourced via billabong) I would recieve a full refund. The board was on sale...

are you sure they are cracks and not pressure dings? cause those are normal...

yh, where you sit, sometime it compresses the inside, which makes the glass go in, and then it splits a little because it cant take the pressure (pressure ding)

is the stringer above the foam? if the shaper did not get the stringer flush or below the foam that usually presents a problem. If its rather new go get it checked out. If it's not water tight then stop right there, don't go in.

That'll just make the foam delam from the glass, and kaboom after a floater re-entry its in half.
