...And a gale force onshore wind

It's certainly an unusual forecast for this time of year. That looks like deepest darkest january, not almost summer! :?

Gonna struggle to find a working spot in that kind of wind, but there'll be a wave, the rest is just details

And especially for the Sozzie (South Australian) minority... At least, those of us who don't know it yet...

Current open ocean swell map.

See that big 48ft fetch? Well the low causing it swept north of Heard Island (pretty much the far east of the Mid Coast swell window) a few days ago. Keeping an eye on it I figured the groundswell from it would make the Mid Friday.

Current swell forecast.

And that pretty much confirms it. Yep, good chance of decent groundswell Friday/Saturday.

Looks like the wind will be no good for the mid on Friday. but if you can find somewhere sheltered on the South Coast you might get some good waves (the wind looks good for there). Saturday expect 2-3' and glassy on the afternoon tides.

On the downside it's the weekend so it'll be crowded.

Maybe some good piccie opportunities, tho.
