meeting people

Hey... I'm new to so cal and fairly new to surfin.... any ideas on how to meet people to surf with? I'm 31 and have a 7'2". Just want to get out there and have some fun.

Hi ,
not in your area my friend but i always find that if its a bit tough to talk to surfy peeps on the beach ..then chat to the older surfers, their normally not caught up in life-jive and will happilly chat to a new dude or dudette in their area
and even when its blatantly obvious that i'm crappola on my board lol

Where in So Cal? There are several people from the area on this board.
I haven't been surfing too much yet, just got a wetsuit so I can surf in the cooler water during the winter. There's a surf comp in San Onofre this weekend, you may want to check it out, meet people there, especially if your interested in longboarding, as it is a longboard competition.

hey... thanks for the responses. I live in Irvine, and am quite happy to cruise to good spots in my car..... I have to admit that I don't particularly love cold water, but have a suit, so am more than willing to give it a go!!! Anyway, thanks for the info and chat........keep it coming!!!!
