Wetsuit Gloves question

Im currently using these C-Skins gloves that I picked up last winter and they seem to work ok I suppose. They come with seperate velcro straps which are an absolute pain to strap around the wrists of the gloves, the velcro always sticks and fluffs the glove on my other hand. Anyway ive notcied that all the gloves ive seen on the net, none of them look like they have velcro straps.

Has anyone got velcro straps on their gloves because I think it would let loads of water in otherwise. Unless you tuck them into your wetsuit i suppose. Just a random question.

hmmm. the ones I use don't have the velcro, but I have seen it. The ones I have get a ton of water in them, and really feels like it weighs me down, but they are very warm. Once I'm out back, I can kinda drain a lot of the water out and it stays out for a while.

They might just be a not-perfect fit, considering I borrow them.

Never used gloves with velcro but I think there could be a tendancy to over tighten the velcro so your hands could get tired of paddling and holding the board easier :? .

I always have my gloves inside of the wetsuit arms FWIW.

I've got 5mm XCel (lobster claw style) gloves w/ velcro. I havn't had any problems. When I'm not wearing them I still fasten the velcro strap, so that it doesn't rub on anything else.

Does it have to do with the way your velcro is designed. On the gloves I've got: there is a small patch of the hooks (the scratchy part that Fs up the neoprene) on the wrist (same side as the palm side of the hand), and the wrap around strap is made of the loops (fuzzy part).

Get small gloves. They're a pain to get on and off, and they dont last as long as ones that are a bit baggier, but they dont fill up with water adding a couple of kilos to your paddling

Then they dont need velcro :D

(No, not so small that they cut your circulation off. Just quite tight! )

the seperate velcro on my gloves are so annoying because they stick to my gloves when trying to strap them on, and then sticks to my leesh and wtesuit....arrrrr

my friend used to have ones with a separeate velcro strap, kinda like a nylon wrist watch strap to keep the gloves tight around the wrist......she hated it and two weeks after purchase she gave em away, lol.

i got gloves that just fit snugly and tuck em under my sleeves of my suit. good luck.

I have some thick gloves with velcro - I ALWAYS roll up my wetsuit sleeves, put the glove on and tighten the velcro, then roll the sleeves over the top - they're never full of water and keep my hands toasty!

When I take them off I always do the velcro up so they don't catch on anything in my wetsuit bag!

Cheers
