Surfing Waves

I was wondering what wetsuit to get. I live in Rhode Island, and the water stays pretty cold. I was wondering if I should get a 3/2 and be cold for a bit, or a 4/3 and be pretty warm, but maybe too warm in June. The guy at the shop insisted on getting a 3/2, since I only start surfing in April, and am done in September. I am very skinny and get cold in the water easily. I needed a medium-tall wetsuit. Is this a good wetsuit?

Hey, I think you should get either a 5/4 or 4/3 wetsuit. Its better to be warm than cold and if you get a 5/4 wetsuit its only a little bit more money and you can surf all year around in it. As for the wetsuit, ye ive heard good things about the new rip curl bomb wetsuits.

Start with a 3/2 it will get you through now until sep/oct. (you may want boots and or gloves too). Then if you're totally stoked and want to surf nov. through mar. get a 5/4 hooded.

That's what I've got in MD (granted it'll be a little colder in RI)...how's the water temp. now?

I think having a 5/4 with a hood attached would be a bit much for the summer, but they have good enough prices on shorties you could get one as well.

i live in ma, and surf RI a lot....a 4/3 would be better for this time of year until late june, when you can start wearing the 3/2. 3/2 will take you into the beginning of october, realistically. longer if your determined.

my boyfriend wears a 4/3 year round cause he gets cold easy. you wont be to warm in a 4/3, but a 3/2 is just easier to move in, and lighter to wear in the summer. that 1mm really does make a big difference.

if your worried about being cold....get the 3/2 and then get a thermal rashguard to layer for this time of year, and then drop it for the summer. i would get some boots too. You might be able to get away with no gloves, but you'll prob want boots till the end of june-ish.

go to gansett juice in narraganset, RI. They have some pretty inexpensive wetsuits.
