I have just had a board custom made for me by Mac @ tunnel vision surfboards. It has an 8oz deck and a 4oz bottom and I was just wondering will a metal buckle on a reasonably tight bulldog soft rack ding the deck?? The board will be in a 10mm bag which should help. I just dont want to get to the beach and see 2 dings across the deck where the straps were. Has anyone ever had dings from a soft rack or am I being silly??If anyone has tried this could you let me know how you got on please, thanks.

The 10mm bag will protect it plenty. But if you are really worries, then just get of neoprene off-cuts, or cut up an old towel, or a spongy dishwashing thing and put it under the buckle.
I don't know how new the board is but you know you should really wait a few weeks after it has been glassed before you surf it to let the resin fully cure and harden?

A 10mm bag is a proper travel bag and will protect it from any buckle.
But like jonny says, if you are worried, just pad it out more.
I have a 5 mm bag and the straps I have used haven't even marked it!
(I was worried too the first time I strapped it down though)

Thanks guys for your replies, judging by what youve said it should be ok although I may stick some old towel or something under the buckles. We are going to croyde this afternoon because I really want to give it a bash, its been sat around the house for 2 weeks teasing me so she's going on her maiden voyage today, although I wont be trying to smash a bottle of champagne on the deck :P .
You are happy with your board then kieran?? thats good to hear, I havent ever heard any bad remarks about tunnel vision befor so im really looking forward to getting out there.
Cheers everyone
