pollution

Postby tree_hugger » Thu May 13, 2004 12:13 pm

when i went surfing the other day there was a load of scum on the surface and rubbish on the beach. i know down here in cornwall there has been a lot of controvisy about dead dolphins. it really annoys me seeing what man has done to the enviroment. any other bad pollution stories.

I once went surfing in Llangennith (Gower, Wales) and there was a brown foam on the water.

I had a nasty gastric infection for 3 weeks and couldn't eat anything. I lost 2 1/2 stone in those 3 weeks.

There were a couple of cases in Swansea of an unknown allergic reaction to some pollution that left some surfers paralised from the neck down for a couple of weeks!!

I agree that man is systematically destroying everything. If you take a look at the SAS (Surfers Against Sewage) site it states that 300,000,000 tonnes of raw or partially treated sewage are pumped into the sea around the british isles EVERY DAY!!

That's disgusting!

Many encounters of nastyness in my time...

Its not the visable stuff you want to be worrying about!

I'm doing my dissertation on how water poolution (via sewage specifically) affects the surfing community and their surfing habits.. see my post if your interested in helping... --> https://surfing-waves.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=481

In my words, pollution is the dreadful conditions of earth's land surfaces often caused by human actions and their abuse of land resources. I think pollution is mainly caused by the human actions. There are a lot of techniques for prevent pollution on internet. I also include some methods to prevent pollution in my land pollution essay. Industrialization and urbanization are main causes of land pollution. Pollution may happen when waste is not disposed perfectly.

I'm in Los Angeles and I'm not looking forward to when it rains. The pollution doesn't seem bad at all right now, but we have had essentially no rain for the entire year of 2013 (a few light rains, thats all). The water has seemed very clean to me so far, but once it rains I hear its awful because all of the stuff in the sewers that has been building up finally washes out to teh ocean.

If you live in SW England, you will end up swimming in sewage: some of the places Ive personally experienced this: Witsand Bay, Bude and Bigbury (but Bigbury I only smelled sewage, I did not see the usual pantie liners etc).
