hey guys, I just moved here to the east suburbs of Sydney, and as Winter is fast approaching, what's your guys' take on wetsuits? Looks rather obvious that I need to get one, so any recommendations? One guy at a store swears by XCel and O'Niels, and hates anything Billabong or ripcurl. I'm not lookin to spend more than A$200, so whadya guys think?

Ive got the Billabong gold solution and it works amazing!! I hate getting the damn thing on and off but its got so many features and keeps me warm on the coldest of days. I dont think you should care about brand names. Any brand could make a good wetsuit. You should look for what features the wetsuit offers, price and how it feels on you.

It's cold here in Scarborough..South Island New Zealand.

Water temp is 15 degrees brr..

I been surfing with a hot top under a short sleeve 3/2. Its been ok now that autumn's kickin in. But. I reckon I'll need something more for winter.

Is there much difference between a 3/2 suit and a 4/3...really?

Well i live in Southern Australia, and this is the first year that i've invested in a 4/3 O'Neill wetsuit. Its brillant, so much movement and stretch, and its got this breast plate thingy that gets warm, but it was pricey.

If you are only looking to spend about $200 maybe you should have a look on ebay??? My mate got an excellent billabong foil range wetsuit really cheap, but you have to be pretty accurate with your size though!

In regards to brands it really doesnt matter. Just get one in your price range that has all the right features and fits well!! Personally though I stick to O'Neill and Ive never had any problems!

I would advise saving up and spending more money on a good steamer , a bad wet suit will just ruin your enjoyment.
good suits

Billabong solution gold and the rip curl e-bomb.

peak also do a budget steamer thats v good. personally I want a zipless wetti ! I would try and make sure that your wetti contains a bat wing , an extra neck piece to limit those flush through's and that your wetti is fully sealed.
