hi, my name is Jim and i was thinking about buying my first board. But the other day my friends told me that as its my birthday real soon they were all gonna chip in and try and get me some kind of 8ft pop-out board. is this a good sort of board for me to have or should i save a bit more money to chip in as well and get a custom board? I'm not sure please help me!!!!

Wow, nice friends you got

If you're just starting out, you dont need a custom - you dont know what you want yet :wink:

A fairly large (about 18" longer than you are tall is a good start) pop-out mini-mal will be easy to learn on and are tough as anything so a good choice of first board.
