is it just me or are 2-4 ft days the best days. there is no white water battle just an easy paddle out stay out back for abit then catch a nice wave which is mellow. out there for hours the best.

i do like those days especially with a hangover, but the extra exhilaration you get from that extra couple of 2 or 3 feet is great. The fact that i hardly make any makes that much sweeter when you do. Its always good to test yourself to the limits

I always refer to the 2-4 ft clean as 'Superfun'
If you're paddling out with some mates and want to just chill-out, have a chat, catch some waves (like the start of Big Wednesday) then these are the best days.
If the sun is shining, buy a waterproof disposable camera and take it in turns to take photos of each other.
I'm hoping for a bit of that this weekend in Cornwall (although it's looking more like 1-2 ft).
It's good to test yourself in bigger surf, but there's so much fun to be had on these days that they're definitely my favourite!
Cheers

Do you mean 2-4ft waves or swell?? A 2 to 4 ft wave is really fun small day and a 2 -4 ft swell is a more challenging but still fun and not serious if you wipe out. For me a 5-6ft swell is probably the biggest I can have 'fun' in but anything bigger requires a lot of concentration. I remember me and a friend somehow getting out back on a 7-9ft swell (big lulls in the swell luckily) and sitting there for about 2 hours wondering how the hell we were going to get in, and I thought sod it and paddled into a set and got the biggest ass reaming of my life, not funny when its happening but it is when I think back now. :)
