i am just learning i have been 5 or 6 times for about 5 hours at a time and can stand up now, pretty much every time. I am 15 and want a board that i can progress on bcuz i cnt afford to buy another one in a few months time so wud it be ok to buy a fairly large short board? say 6'8" or 6'6"?

Yea, go with a 6'8. Squash tail for stability, Thick rails for volume (and hence float/easier paddle). Will work in everything. Happy surfing :P
