Surfing Waves

Hi everybody!
Seen a nice glass board on ebay its 7.2' long 20 7/8" wide 23/4" thick.
Im about 6' tall weighin 13.5 stone, and would be surfin mostly in 2-3ft west wales waves.
Im currently ridin a bic 7'6" (cts construction) performer which doesnt catch everything but is fairly floaty.
Would this board be a wise investment? Ive only been surfing for over a month but i can sort of go left and can ride about 60% of what im catching!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big fat funboard shape by the sound of it. The obvious next step after a pop-out mal. If the condition and price are right, I'd go for that

if youve only been surfing for just over a month its probably better if you stick with the bic until youve tried a few of your mates boards first, cos you might wanna go for longboarding or somin, most shops will let you borrow a secondhand board for the day to try it out before buying it, so try as many as possible before spending the hard earned cash!
and being so wide you might grow out of the board youve been looking at on ebay quite quickly.
Also i dont think i would buy a board off ebay as the pics are usually c**p, and the prices seem higher than you can get in a shop, with a bit of haggling!

Yeah, I totally agree with MorseyB, dont upgrade until you know your ready, youll know. It sound like this other one you are talking about wont perform much better than the BIC you have now. When you get to the point you can catch everything on it and it just isnt responsive for what you like, than go out and shop for one. If you buy that new board right now, you might outgrow it. Than down the road and want something better and will have to shell out money again.
PS-Are you getting good rides on your 7'6" or are you findingyour stalling out of the wave much?@ 2-3 foot swell and your weight I wouldnt go smaller than what you have now. If you spend all the money in something that is too small for local conditions you will dissapoint yourself when your investment doesnt provide the fun youd hoped for! Why not (down the road) look for something with the same float but more performance based shape!

Hmmm, some people (ie me) saying 'if its a good board, get it' and others saying 'stick with the board you've got'

I think there's two different mentalities here - neither are wrong, just different. And also depends on stuff like money, space etc

If the question is 'Shall I get another board?' I say, if its a good board, at a good price, get it!

...But Ive got a garage/camper van full of boards

Everyone should, if they're in a position to do so, expand their quiver


If, on the other hand, the question is 'shall I replace my board with a new one' then the answer is 'no'. Stick with the board you're learning on 'til you can surf better than it can
