Hey, I just went to Newquay to learn how to surf and I'm addicted! Thing is, at the moment I live in the south east of england (surrey) and I don't know anyone who actually wants to go surfing too! I'm 26, female, pretty easy going and very much a beginner! Is there anyone out there who surfs in kent/surrey/sussex/? I'd love to make some new friends and surf more regularly at weekends and school hols (I'm a teacher!).

Hi there :D

Welcome to 'waves.

You have my sympathies - Im stuck in the south east (SW London) too
But Ive got a pretty flexible job and a camper, so it more or less works out :D

I surf the south coast a lot (in winter at least, drops right off in summer, and then its time to head west). It's a fickle beast, the south coast, and can be difficult to predict, but it can be good on the right day 8)

Have you got your own kit yet?
If you're going to the south coast, its often a last minute decision, or for only a couple of hours, so its a pain if you havent got a board and wettie :?

There's nothing on the surf radar at the moment (flat flat flat, maybe some wind chop) but I can give you a shout next time I spot some incoming swell for the south coast :D

Ooh, now I sound like some over-keen weirdo - dont worry everyone on here gets very encouraging with the newbies! And it'd be good to drag a few people down to the south coast. Me and my girlfriend can provide hot drinks in the van
