Hi guys,

After looking through ebay for weeks now looking for a decent board to suit me, i finally decided to head down a local surfboard shop here, Zak Surboards http://www.zaksurfboards.com

I'm 90% sure i'm going to buy a Matt Manners board with the following dimentions. 6'6Length 19 1/4Wide 2 1/2Thick

It looks like a fairly bouyant board for me to learn on, i'll be heading down to Torquay tommorow and giving it a test run :)

If worst comes to worse and it doesnt suit me, i'm sure i'll be able to come out even by selling it on ebay!!

By the way, its selling for $280Aus

Cheers and thanks for those who have given me advice.

hey. you sed a 6'6 to learn on?? if i were you i would go for a minimal about 7-8' because i bought a 6'6 board and i think that would be the next step up from a minimal. as 6'6 when your learning it so hard to get the balance right. you cant stand up too soon or too late but the minimal is alot more versatile when learning. im just a ho-dad too. we are in this togetha!!!!lol :D

HI guys,

I know its a pretty small board to learn on, but as i've said in a few previous posts. I've had a big foamie, so i had the basics on how to catch a wave, stand up etc.

Also the last few months been using a mates DHD board which is 6'8 and similar thickness and width as the one i've bought, and i could stand up on this if i get a clean wave.

Putting that aside, headed down to Torquay (Victoria, Australia) today to try it out and i'm wrapped with it :)

Stood up about 10 or so times which was awsome, (but also had a handful of nose dives. OUCH lol) But i stuck with it all day, i reckon we were out there at least 4 or 5 hours. Am now comfortable paddling on the board and getting the hang of duckdiving too, which were the 2 things i was having trouble with most.

I took some photos of me and my board, i'll post them tommorow for all to see.

Cheers
Matt
