Just wondered how you see the pros on tv, run into the water and paddle all the way out quickly to the back to catch the huge waves. I find this really tiring, really wears you out. I need to stop for a bit before I can start duck diving again. Usually start paddling when the seas up to my chest

Paddle? What?

Most of the pros I've seen are towed out by jet-skis. :P

No, but you see some on their heat running into the water and then diving on their board and paddling out really quickly

they train HARD. i saw jake patterson the other day riding his bike over some crazy hills... he was really going for it. Want to paddle like the pros, gotta put the effort in (and the correct board will help to).

There are a few things that help the pros:

- It's their job, so they train hard and are super- fit
- There's no-one else in the water!!
- They know the breaks really well or are at least able to read the conditions well. So they can time their paddle out accordingly.
- They can duckdive very well
