Surfing Waves

Hey there, dunno what im doing on here on christmas day! oh well. i was at widemouth bay today and im turning to paddle for this wave, start paddling, then this guy quickly swims across a few metres behind me, catches the damn wave then starts shouting cz im in his way . Technically he was closest to the peak of the wave, but was it his right of way or mine???

Yo! Yes technically the other surfer being nearer the peak on take off does have right of way - although if he keeps paddling round everyone like that he's gonna get thumped sooner or later!

ahh you've answerd one of my other questions! cheers! was going to ask wat snaking is. It was also christmas day aswell! Well, what goes around comes around, he can't do it forever without someone saying somthing.

yea this one guy did that to me, and exploded. I was paddling out of his way, he was on a longboard in small waves, and was obviously pearling, so I stopped paddling. he then paddled back to me, and went on for like 3 minutes about me not getting outta the way and "he's just gonna let the board hit me next time". of course, I was on my way too small not floaty shortboard for the first time in a while. but, he was the local, and this spot is brutal. its the only spot within almost 50 miles south and 100 miles north that will produce a rideable wave, and this day was a tiny closeout knee high-wind blown mush, as always.

so, I guess they technically have the right of way, but I usually try to avoid these guys.

You got snaked. Next time just take off anyway and if he hassles...just stare him out & say "what you gonna do gimp"?

-I think he was the local, but i don't know, ive never seen him there before but its hard to tell (he had hood on). I cant really call myself a local, even though it's the break i always go to and the closest to me, its still 40miles away . i wouldn't have been botherd its just the fact he was shouting at me to get out of his way . ahh well nothing can be done now, lets just hope he doesn't do it again. I know i won't ever do it, its annoying! I would stare him out but it would be far easier just to paddle to somewere away from him, if he followed me, then did it id do more than stare

Nah sounds like he wasnt a local. Just a chump thats all. Next time dont let that xxxxx slide bust that idiot in the face or rip him a new ass and send him packin.
