so i was out surfing today with a couple of buddies and everything was going just fine when an overwhelming feeling of uneasieness suddenly came over me. something was just wrong. i don't know how to explain it but it was bad stuff. the birds were being strange, we saw some dolphins that were acting funny, and my buddies both felt something too. i got out of the water shortly after i felt it and its been bugging me since. has anyone else ever experienced this type of thing?

Yer, but normally the feeling is just a bowl movement; head to the toilet and you will be all good!

If ever you see Dolphins acting funny (as opposed to just being silly) get out of the water asap. Mr Greysuit must be about!

I was surfing a few years ago and saw this fin pop up a little way behind me, i froze and then my instinct was to paddle like a mad man (woman) and get outta there. I go the beach so quickly and was yelling at my mates to get out of the water, instead the started pissing themselves laughing. It turned out to be a dolphin and i still haven't lived it down.....

when i first moved to NC i was surfing Atlantic beach and they have these fish called jumping mullets....well at the time i didnt know this and i thought something was beneath me scaring all these fish to jump out of the water so i did the same thing as the fish and got the hell out of the water....my friends there still call me jumping mullet.. and its still not funny

YES!! I was out past sunset.. Got an eerie feeling and popped my legs up on my board.. Didn't see anything but just the intuition that something was "off" made me paddle in. It was probably 8:30-9pm... The "gray suits" time.. But on a separate occasion I did see a sharky just below the water slithering about like a snake heading towards my board. I was up, legs way up paddling like a bat outta hell. LOL .... made it to shore! Wheeeeewwwww,

Yes! I've had that before -really, really weird, I didn't see anything, it was past sunset and I just suddenly had this sense of unease, there was nothing particularly unusual about where I was and I'd been out repeatedly around the same time (the later you surf the fewer people are in the water!) - anyway I remember reading this really interesting piece on instinct and how your subconscious picks up on signals that you're not consciously aware of which is why that 'gut' feeling is often right but inexplicably so. I got out of the water.

I go with my gut. If something doesn't feel right I get out. End of.

I often get that, I think! Suddenly everything is surreal especially when surfing. But then that's because it is surreal. All these dudes bobbing about in the lineup not really having much to do with each other, all with something in common but essentially at odds with each other. You could list thousands of reasons for feeling that any situation you are actually living is surreal but for some funny reason it is more common to feel like this whilst waiting in a lineup. It soon goes when you get a wave.
