The topic is my question to all of you. Somehow I heart my shoulder paddling out yesterday. I think my rotator cuff is messed up. Ive been icing it a lot. My wetsuit is tight in the shoulders and I was wondering if that could have done it, along with not warming up or stretching which is stupid i know. Im just wondering about the wetsuit though.

I seriously doubt it was your suit - more likely it was the lack of warm-up/ stretching.

I know it's the last thing on your mind when you get to the beach, but I would definitely consider stretching first!!

I never warm up before surfing...

....which is probably why on saturday night after a marathon session in chilly conditions, I was in agony from a strained spine

Next time I'll warm up... :?

PS Ibuprofen - marvellous stuff

I have a shoulder injury - not from surfing, from skateboarding.

Ok, from skateboarding in the dark, whilst drunk and in the rain!!

I still don't stretch although I know I should.

I actually have shards of my splintered shoulder floating about in the joint. I went to the hospital and they gave me the standard NHS cure:

"Take 2 paracetamol, go home and rest"

Then, a week later I got a letter saying "Actually, we have reviewed your X-Rays and you did break your shoulder after all, sorry about that!!"

Great - I now get nice stabbing pains when it gets cold and there's nothing I can do about it!!

thats a real bummer about the fragments in your shoulder. I went surfing this morning and it wasnt too good. The waves were ok but my shoulder still felt stiff and I still had some pain. I think im going to rest for like 5 days this time. It just sucks because I like to surf or go to the gym on a daily basis and now I have this shoulder thing.
