This was just brought to my attention, and I wanted to pass along the information. To anyone who lives in New England...do not buy from Bob Fox at matunuck surf shop. This prick knowingly sells boards that are stolen to try and make a profit. I wouldn't be surprised if he asks people to go steal boards for him. disgusting to what low people will sink to for a buck.

one of the shops here will write down the board's id and shaper with the guy who sold it to them, and if someone comes in looking for that board and you have your recipt with the board's number on it they'll give it back to you and charge the other guy for it or something...

Thats what any decent person would do, which is reasonable. I mean anyone could say a board is theirs, so its understandable to require proof of some sort, a photo, i don't know, something. apparently though this person knew the board he was selling was stolen, and when confronted about it...well...here is the story as told to me, rather disturbing....
Dick= Shop owner
Vic= Rightful owner of stolen board
VF= Vic's friend
VF is driving to a very popular group of RI surf breaks when he sees Vic's recently stolen surfboard in a local shop.
VF goes into the shop tells Dick that the board is stolen and belongs to Vic.The board has a very unique color scheme.
VF tells Dick that he is going to call Vic and the police to straighten it out. Dick throws VF out of the shop.
Vic goes down and IDs the board, tells Dick that he wants his board back.
Dick sputters something about no police,and he can have his board back as soon as Dick gets his money back from the thief ,whom Dick seems to know rather well
Vic understandably being less than satisfied with Dicks response , decides to call the Police.
The police contact Dick and tell him to return the board promptly.
Vic returns to the seasonal shop to get his board. Dick flips out and starts yelling at Vic, "I thought we had a deal no police'' Then Dick starts to cry about how much time he spent polishing the board.
Vic grabs his board tells Dick that he wants his fin back . Dick thows the fin at Vic and tells Vic "that if he ever sees him in Matunuck again he will make sure he never catches any more waves"
The moral of the story....Vic's real name is not Vic, VF's real name is not VF, but Dick will always be a Dick!!!!!!!!!!
If you see Dick in the water, help try to spread some Chistmas cheer and share a wave with Dick. In fact if 4 or 5 people at a time do it, maybe Dick will become a kinder gentler Dick.
I have had some long and detailed conversation with the victems to help insure accuracy.
